We take great pains to make our bidding system robot-proof. If you think you may be bidding against a bot, you're actually seeing what happens when another bidder has a "max bid" in our system.
We accept max bids through any of our bid input boxes. A user can put in the price they are willing to pay that is higher than the "next bid". The price does not jump to that max bid right away but instead increases as other bids come in from other people for that items; some users like this feature because they have to come back to the site less frequently.
Bidding Increments
Current Price | Next Minimum Bid Increment |
---|---|
$1 - $4 | Bid at least $1 more than the current price. |
$5 - $49 | Bid at least $5 more than the current price. |
$50 - $149 | Bid at least $10 more than the current price. |
$150+ | Bid at least $25 more than the current price. |
Outbid Notifications
When you place a bid but there is a higher max bid from another user, you will be shown an "outbid" message right away on the screen (we don't send text/email notifications since you are there to see the result right away).
Simultaneous Bids
Whenever you see two bids happening at the same time in the bid history, it is an automatic bid based on a max bid taking place.
